The Usual Suspects
of Atlanta

Diane Bowman - Vocals

Diane has been performing on stage for over 20 years. A theatre arts major from West Georgia, Diane sang with the WGC Jazz Ensemble and performed on stage with the WGC Theatre Company all thru college.  She left for summer stock in 1985 and did road tours across the US and then on to the bright lights of NYC where she studied at the National Shakespeare Conservatory and with Royal Shakespeare actor/teacher Anthony Naylor at the Jean Cocteau Repertory in lower Manhattan.

She studied voice with many folks, but mostly with Winston Clark.  She also performed around NYC in small venues, including the former Village Gate Cabaret, Westbeth Theatre Center and Cave Canum Cabaret (where Bette Midler started) and earned her Actors Equity card while at Portland Stage Company in Portland, ME.   She returned to Georgia in the 1990s and founded the Artists Colony, a non-profit small professional theatre in Pine Mountain, GA.  The summer repertory dinner theatre ran successfully for five years, but Diane and Co. needed to move their efforts to Atlanta for more opportunitues.

Diane works as a free-lance technical writer and online Help developer and also helps the family business that is still in Pine Mountain, GA.   Diane's theatrical efforts have been re-channeled to raising her two beautiful daughters, Hannah and Katherine, who both appear to have dramatic tendancies.  Still needing some performance outlet, she started singing again with the former Take Note Big Band.  She has performed with various groups in Atlanta including the Bill Snyder Quartet, Atlanta Jazz Krewe, B.A Project, Atlanta Swing Orchestra, and a few performances with the Philco Radio Players.  She also performs with her own jazz combo, Capitol City Jazz and with the Capitol City Xpress, a 12-piece swing/jazz/big band group.  Diane is truly happy to be a Suspect and sees great things for the band.
