The Usual Suspects
of Atlanta

Diane Herring - Alto Sax

Diane was born in Miami, FL and spent her childhood beachcombing through the Florida Keys.  In junior high school she discovered her calling to be a drummer -- but her band director had other ideas; he needed more saxophones.  She fell in love with the alto sax and played through high school.  Diane then attended the University of Florida (Go Gators!) and performed with the university concert, marching and jazz bands.  She was a member of Tau Beta Sigma and Sigma Alpha Iota music sororities.  She received a degree in music education.

Later, while raising her three children, Diane did some private studies in music therapy and piano.  Then, in the early nineties, Diane began performing with several swing bands and church orchestras in the Atlanta area.  She is very proud to now be a part of The Usual Suspects.

In addition to her music, Diane has been involved with volunteer work at Shepherd Center.  For many years she worked in the MS swim therapy program and assisted with the power soccer team.  Also, she and her husband are air crew members of Civil Air Patrol; flying search and rescue and disaster relief missions.  "God has blessed me with a life full of wonderful family, friends and music."
