Mark A. Belfast, Jr. - Trumpet

A native of Auburn, Alabama, Mark Belfast serves as the Associate Director of Bands at Rockdale County High School in Conyers, Georgia.  He received his Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Education in Music Education degrees from Auburn University (Auburn, Alabama).  Mark holds teaching certificates in both Alabama and Georgia and is TI:ME (Technology Institute for Music Educators) certified.

Prior to his arrival at RCHS, Mr. Belfast spent a year teaching in Muscogee County (Columbus, Georgia), where he served as Director of Bands at Spencer High School, and four years in Tallapoosa County (New Site, Alabama) as Director of Bands at Horseshoe Bend School.  Under his direction, the Horseshoe Bend Band consistently received straight superior ratings at District and State Concert Band Assessments, as well as at marching and concert competitions around the Southeast.  His bands have performed at the Southern Star Music Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, Festival of Champions in Panama City Beach, Florida, and Disney’s Magic Kingdom, in Orlando, Florida.

In addition to his duties as music educator, Mr. Belfast served as President of the Auburn Knights Alumni Association from 2006-2008, serves as faculty advisor for the RCHS chapter of Tri-M, and performs as a freelance jazz and classical trumpeter.  His professional affiliations include MENC: National Organization for Music Education, Georgia Music Educators Association, the Alabama Bandmasters Association, the National Band Association, the International Association for Jazz Education, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
