"I was born In Los Angeles, CA and moved to Florida in 1969 at seven years old when my dad was hired to rebuild the steam trains for Disney World. The engines came from the old Yucatan sugar plantations in Mexico and were totally ruined from neglect. Since my dad had worked for Walt Disney on a personal level maintaining his hobby steam engine, it happened pretty quickly and we were part of the first twenty-five Disney families in from California."
Randy started playing trumpet in the school band in 6th grade after thinking drums were the way to go... wrong...he needed a melody to play and that was the end of playing drums. After playing in High School marching, symphonic and jazz bands, he spent three years playing in the US Army Band. Stationed in Ft Polk LA, he played trumpet doing the regular duties and also worked the sound board for the combo band that toured high schools doing recruiting. The work included setting up for two high school performances a day at different locations for each performance. After moving on to Fort Ord, CA playing more and deciding that the Army was a good thing but not for him, he moved back to Kissimmee, FL to look at a civilian life.
Through the years, Randy has played in various classical, symphonic and jazz bands. Nowadays he runs his computer service company from his farm north of Gainesville and is married to Marci for ninetten years. They have two girl,s Kaitlyn and Caroline. Randy has always wanted to play in a jazz band with this caliber of musicians and has really enjoyed playing with "The Usual Suspects."
